Night riders are knights
In a way, I prefer night to day. In the beginning I embraced the 24-hour gym experience, and found myself exercising at 3am on weekdays. Trouble came when I tanked at 3pm, and began to sleep every afternoon until gym again at 3am, in the dark.
Driving to the repair shop when the washing machine broke down, I flooded the car. The machine fitted into the hatchback with the seat pushed forward. But I didn’t know it held so much water, even when the drum was empty.
Now the car smells of washing soap which is not bad at all. I’m sure it’s toxic and chemical, but right now at least it smells of my clean life.
The car had to dry out in the sun with the doors wide open. I even left it like that overnight. The repair man said he could’ve come to the house to fix the problem. It didn’t seem necessary.
At midnight I got up to check on the car. And there it was, with the doors still wide open, like it was part of a picnic that ran overtime.
Most long distance airplane flights begin at night. Then you’re supposed to sleep in your chair all night. If you wake up, people you don’t know are sleeping all around you. It’s like a little city of levitating ghosts.
