The more things change

The more things change the more they don’t change enough. I’m not talking about politics I’m talking about food choices. Burgers to be precise.

Of course you get good burgers and bad burgers. But, really, a burger is a burger is a burger. And it’s in my nature to rebel against the same old thing.

I think the food styling industry is afraid to deviate from onion, lettuce and tomato on top of melted cheddar in a basic bun which signals, not a great day but a regular day. I think it’s the lunchtime of a million mediocre billboards.

I’m in a restaurant and my waitron has walked off the job. But nobody has bothered telling me. This really happened a few nights ago, and the restaurant manager was feeling so triumphant that he forgot to let her tables know or follow up. 

I looked out the window for almost half an hour wondering if I was the only person alive. I know that everyone is suspicious of men who dine alone, but let me tell you we are not plotting a heinous crime. We just want to ingest our food, wrap the doggie bag and get back to streaming other people’s lives.
