Pass the Peas

Remember when the word roast didn’t mean comedians saying terrible things about each other?

I spent so much time over the holidays thinking about the good old days, I forgot about the here and now. We kept telling the children about what did we did as children, when the adults weren’t watching. It was like we were tempting fate.

And really, when I thought about it in retrospect, what we did way back then, with our spare time, was not that amazing. And then we went out for lunch.

And I thought ‘this never changes.’ Everywhere on earth, when families eat the world stops turning and time stands still. Pass the peas please.

At night the lights of the city remind me that I am not alone. Which city? I’m not sure anymore. It’s more like pictures of New York or Lagos remind me that we are all going somewhere, and how we get there is the art we bring to life.

And then I watched a live stream of Times Square at New Year. The ball dropped. There were political protests and random violence, at about the same time, and then life went on.

It’s is not like mixing drinks, Life. No-one cares if it’s shaken or stirred.
